Although its business currently focuses on biodiesel, in the medium term Energia Verde is engaged in considerable research in other areas and aims to develop substantial capacity in the production of wind and solar energy, as well as in the development of biomass and hydroelectric power plants.


 
 

Biomass Cogeneration

 

Sunflower fieldBiomass Cogeneration Biomass is any organic matter derived from vegetables which is available on a renewable basis, including dedicated energy crops and trees, agricultural crop wastes and residues, aquatic plants, etc. The energy in biomass can be exploited in cogeneration plants.

Cogeneration is the simultaneous production of electricity and heat, both of which are used. Through the utilisation of the heat, the efficiency of cogeneration plant can reach 80% or more. Cogeneration therefore offers energy savings ranging between 15-40% when compared to the supply of electricity and heat from conventional power stations and boilers.

The agricultural unit of Energia Verde is producing up to 40,000 tonnes/year of crop wastes and residues. We are developing a project to use them for feeding a 3 MWe cogeneration power plant, which will also provide 6 MWt for heating and cooling of civil and industrial facilities.

 
 

Biodiesel Production

 

Sunflower fieldThe biodiesel production facility of Energia Verde is located in Strejesti (15 km north of Slatina) and has a capacity of 8 million litres/year of top-quality biodiesel. Over 75% of the raw materials (rapeseed and sunflower) are self produced within our own farm.

Energia Verde relies on state-of-the-art German and Swedish technology in order to meet all the tough requirements of the EN-14214 standards for bio-diesel. Biodiesel is an excellent substitute for fossil diesel that is derived from oilseeds, like Sunflower or Rapeseed. It is an alternative fuel that can be used in virtually all diesel engines and provides power similar to conventional diesel fuel.

Rapeseed fieldBiodiesel can help reduce both emissions of GHG (greenhouse gas) and dependence on foreign oil imports. As such, it enjoys special tax exemptions (zero excises) and other privileges in most European countries – including Romania – as part of the EC policy to support the diffusion of biofuels

Wind Power

Energia Verde aims to become the leading wind energy company in Romania, thanks to the large investments we are currently making and to our commitment to the most advanced wind power technologies.

Our short-term objective is to reach 500 MW installed by 2009.

Energia Verde, in collaboration with Ereda and Eurosat Renovables, is developing a strategic wind energy development plan for the Dobrogea region, which aims to a comprehensive growth of the wind industry in Romania.

It includes the development of a local manufacturing capacity, the optimisation of grid connections, and a perfect integration of wind farms into the local economy.

Our strategy for growth in the wind energy field fits with our focus on sustainable development and is in compliance with the Kyoto Protocol and the European Union objectives.

Agriculture

AgricultureEnergia Verde runs its own farming business over several thousands hectares in the Danube Plain (Counties of Olt and Teleorman). The farm produces most of the raw materials that is needed for our biodiesel production facility and biomass cogeneration plant.

Energia Verde’s farm is equipped with modern agricultural equipment (Claas, Amazone, Lemken) and is run according to the best agronomic practices.


The main crops are:

  • rapeseed (autumn and spring varieties)
  • sunflower
  • wheat
  • barley

Location. The Hilton Las Vegas is located one block from the Strip in Las Vegas, Nev. The hotel is adjacent to the Las Vegas Convention Center and one-and-one-half miles from Fashion Show Mall and Sands Expo Center. University of Nevada, Las Vegas is two miles away.
Hotel Features. With its views of the Strip and surrounding desert skyline, Hilton Las Vegas contains a lobby decorated in earthy burgundy, blue and orange ceramic tiles. Desert plants frame the bright walkway. Hilton Steakhouse, the hotel's dinner-only restaurant serving prime- grade beef and fresh seafood, displays vintage photos of Las Vegas performers. Benihana Village features a terraced lounge that drops down to a water garden, Japanese houses surrounding a koi pond and private dining rooms. Benihana Village serves dinner only and contains a sushi bar. Andiamo serves Northern Italian cuisine for dinner only. The Garden of the Dragon is a dinner- only restaurant serving Northern Italian cuisine. Hilton Las Vegas contains a fee-based business center available during limited hours. The spa at Hilton Las Vegas offers Seaweed Mud wraps, Vitamin C facials, Stone Massages, wet and dry saunas, steam rooms and spa tubs. The 10-acre pool complex contains a 115 by 105-foot heated pool, expansive sundecks with rental cabanas, a seasonal bar and a spa tub. The hotel will light the six tennis courts at dark for a fee.

Guestrooms. The Hilton Las Vegas contains 2,941 guestrooms and suites in three 31-story towers. The furniture is made of light wood with marble tops. Rooms contain desks and vanities. Internet access is offered for a fee. Select accommodations offer in-room safes for a fee.

Expert Tip. The hotel's 1,700-seet Hilton Theater, once Elvis' stage, regularly features Barry Manilow in "Music and Passion." When Barry Manilow is away, the theater features other renowned artists such as Reba McEntire, George Lopez and Donna Summer.
